Tau Beta Pi honored

The New Mexico Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, which is the chapter at UNM, won two awards at the 2019 Convention held in Columbus, OH, Oct. 10-12, 2019.

The Chapter won the Chapter Excellence Award with Distinction for overall strength as a chapter, and the Chapter Project Award for all the activities that the group sponsored last year. This is the second year in a row winning both awards.

The officers of the NM chapter are:

President: Alissa Perea, Civil Engineering Senior
Vice President: Aspen Shafer, Chemical Engineering Senior
Secretary-Treasurer: Ernesto Perea, Civil Engineering Senior
Event Coordinator: Leena Aggad, Mechanical Engineering Senior
Event Coordinator: Breanna Cunningham, Mechanical Engineering Grad Student
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Charles Fleddermann, Professor, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Tau Beta Pi is universally recognized as the preeminent engineering honor society that students of all engineering disciplines strive to gain membership It was founded at Lehigh University in 1885 by Edward Higginson Williams, Jr., to recognize those who have conferred honor upon their Alma Mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges.
