Since November six new undergraduate research assistants are working in the department as part of the Office of Naval Research (ONR) program for training UNM ROTC cadets in cybersecurity. PI Fernando Moreu works together with CO-PI Sorrentino from ME to better prepare our future military leaders in cybersecurity threads, training, and counter-responses. The graduate student leader is 2nd Lieutenant Joshua Murillo, RA with the Smart Management of Infrastructure Laboratory in CCEE. The core of the cybersecurity training program is directed to cyber-physical systems, programming, machine learning, and embedded systems that collect data from human-structure interfaces. The complete UNM ROTC cybersecurity class of 2021-2022 includes Chad Nathe, Connor Miller, Zane Dudney, Timothy Thiergart, Gabriel Zelaya, Hector Valenzuela, and Porter Yang. Looking forward to outstanding cybersecurity results from our ROTC students!
