New Civil Engineering Faculty
Dr. Mark Stone joined the Department of Civil Engineering in the Fall 2009 semester. Dr. Stone is experienced with arid region hydrology, ecohydrology and ecohydraulics, stream and watershed restoration, climate change impacts, and international water resources issues. Before joining the CE Department, he served as a research professor at the Desert Research Institute in Nevada. He received his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University in 2005. 47th Paving and Transportation Conference

The Forty-Seventh Paving and Transportation Conference sponsored by the Department of Civil Engineering and the Alliance for Transportation Research Institute at the University of New Mexico will be held on January 4-5, 2010 at the Marriott Pyramid North Hotel and Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Nano-scale Testing by Undergraduates





Civil Engineering students, Helen Sobien and Quinn Montoya, are conducting nanoscale testing on carbon nanotube modified asphalt binders using an atomic force microscope (AFM) in the clean room at the Center for High Tech Materials (CHTM). This is a Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) project that is supplemental to Dr. Rafi Tarefder's CAREER grant.
