Ferenchak named chair of Transportation Research Board Pedestrian Committee
October 31, 2025

Nick Ferenchak has been selected to serve as chair of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Pedestrian Committee (ACD18). TRB is a division of the National Academies of Sciences that provides independent, research-based guidance to advance transportation innovation and safety.
"It’s a great honor to be recognized by my peers and to have the opportunity to help shape the national transportation research agenda,” he said.
In this leadership role, Ferenchak will help guide national research and policy discussions focused on improving pedestrian safety, accessibility, and walkability.
His selection is an endorsement by his peers of his leadership, and he will play an active role in guiding NCHRP projects, organizing sessions for the TRB Annual Meeting, and leading other committee activities such as webinars.
His appointment reflects a strong commitment to advancing evidence-based strategies that create safer and more convenient transportation systems, particularly for vulnerable road users.
