Dr. Jorge Gonzalez Estrella accepted as Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University

Jorge joined Dr. Cerrato’s group in September 2017 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and has continued working in Dr. Cerrato’s group as a Research Assistant Professor since 2018. At UNM, he has been investigating heavy metal mobility and remediation technologies in projects with the METALS Superfund Research Center and the Center for Native American Environmental Health Equity Research. Jorge has also been actively involved in research activities with the Center for Water and the Environment, collaborating with civil engineering and environmental engineering scientists and professors. Jorge is currently the PI of research projects focused on the interaction of heavy metals and microplastics. At Oklahoma State University, Jorge’s research group will continue working with microplastics along with research focused on fate and microbial toxicity of priority pollutants, (bio)transformation of waste to energy, and (bio)remediation of contaminants.
