Dr. Cerrato's paper selected for collection
October 29, 2018
Editor Edward Kolodziej, from the journal Environmental Processes & Impacts (Royal Society of Chemistry), has selected the paper, “Wildfires and water chemistry: effect of metals associated with wood ash” (DOI: 10.1039/c6em00123h)”, for his collection of recently published papers that deserve more attention. He has named this collection, “Underappreciated Science”, stating that it "represents a diverse group of good papers that should really have more eyes on them and more pathways to the collective consciousness". Dr. José M. Cerrato, Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering at UNM, is the lead author of this paper through a collaboration with Drs. Rebecca Bixby (Biology), Mehdi Ali (Earth and Planetary Sciences), Johanna Blake (USGS), Kateryna Artyushkova and Eric Peterson (Chemical & Biological Engineering) and other students from UNM. This research was supported by the Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) Program Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Award, the New Mexico Water Resources Institute, and the National Science Foundation (NSF) through New Mexico EPSCoR and the Center for Water and the Environment.
