KaTO Summer Studio 2017 – Design4Dominican

KaTO is a design/build studio in Richmond, VA, which engages students of architecture & design, engineering, and building construction to design social projects in developing countries. During the summer of 2017, the team will design a school for a community in La Romana, Dominican Republic, and travel to the Dominican Republic to visit the community and immerse in the culture.

KaTO is an architecture studio which engages students of architecture & design, engineering, and building construction to design social projects in developing countries. During the summer of 2017, the team will design a health clinic and community center for Vista Bella, a community near Monterrey, Mexico. The project will take place concurrently with the previously promoted Design4Dominican studio.

You have spent all year in the classroom, now it's time to put it to practical application with Bohannan Huston. ThisBe a part of BHI's long and successful history of providing sustainable engineering solutions for our clients.  We offer the full set of civil engineering planning and design expertise for water and wastewater, private development, structures, traffic and transportation, and municipal projects.  You can be involved in projects from beginning to end with out in-office design staff and our construction engineering experts who are responsible for field administration and inspection.  Our civil engineering strength is additionally complemented by our ability to provide mechanical and electrical engineering design. Positions may be in any one of our groups or offices. 

Candidates must be earning a degree in civil engineering, have a GPA of 3.0 or greater and include a cover letter indicating an area of interest.  An EI certification is a plus.

Graduate Student Research Program with Department of Energy

The Department of Energy’s Office of Science is now accepting applications for the Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program (2017 Solicitation 1). Applications are due 5:00pm Eastern Time on Tuesday May 16, 2017.

Department of Energy Summer Internships

The Department of Energy (DOE) and Office of Environmental Management (EM) are offering summer internships to current undergraduate and graduate students attending a Minority Serving Institution.  Eligible candidates must be enrolled in a STEM discipline.

Requirements:

  • Be a US citizen
  • Be working toward a degree in STEM (Science, technology, engineering, or mathematics)
  • Have a minimum undergraduate or graduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

When & Where:

  • Summer start dates vary between May 15 & June 5, and are 10 weeks in duration
  • Research internships available at all six national labs

o    Argonne National Laboratory (Illinois)

o    Idaho National Laboratory (Idaho)

o    Los Alamos National Laboratory (New Mexico)

o    Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Tennessee)

o    Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (Washington)

o    Savannah River National Laboratory (South Carolina)

Compensation:

  • Selected candidates will be compensated by either a stipend or salary, and may include one round trip domestic travel to and from the host laboratory. Stipends and salaries will be commensurate with cost of living at the location of the host laboratory. Housing information will be provided to interns prior to arrival at the host laboratory, and will vary from lab to lab.

Nonlinear Mechanics and Dynamics (NOMAD) Research Institute for Graduate Students

NOMAD seeks to address research challenges in the field of nonlinear mechanics and dynamics by forming diverse teams of M.S. and Ph.D. students from the U.S. and abroad. This year we are recruiting a total of 18 to 24 graduate students in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace and other related engineering disciplines. Each student will be matched with one of the six technical projects based on their interests. At the conclusion of the institute, the groups are expected to publish their results at an appropriate conference.
