Biography

Dr. Sheykhfard is a postdoctoral researcher in the Gerald May Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at the University of New Mexico. He holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in civil engineering, with a focus on transportation engineering. His research aims to advance transportation safety through a deep understanding of road user behavior in complex roadway environments. He serves as a panel member for National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) projects and as an editorial board member for multiple transportation journals, including Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology and Behaviour (a leading Elsevier journal in the field of traffic psychology and behavior). Previously, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at Texas Southern University, where he contributed to projects funded by the National Center for Sustainable Transportation (a national University Transportation Center (UTC) sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
