Biography
Dr. Garrido is a Lecturer III in the Gerald May Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering at the University of New Mexico. She holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of New Mexico, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brazil), an M.B.A. in Economics and Financial Engineering from Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brazil), and a B.Eng. in Industrial Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Electronics from CEFET/RJ (Brazil). Dr. Garrido is an accomplished engineer with 20+ years of experience in Brazil and the U.S., spanning diverse sectors such as consulting, higher education, and software development. She is proficient in project management (PMP certified), risk management, and technology (Microsoft certified). She has a track record of success across various industries, including construction, oil & gas, government, manufacturing, telecommunications, and mining. She has contributed to 15+ capital projects, 6+ software development, and 4+ research projects. She is proficient in using tools for analysis, scheduling, programming, simulation, optimization, and decision-making support. Before joining UNM, Dr. Garrido was an Assistant Professor at the Engineering Technology and Construction Management Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her teaching interests include risk management, project and construction management (risk, scheduling & cost, scope, contracts and claims management, and new technology. Her research interests include risk management, scheduling & cost, modular/off-site construction, and new technology.
