Print Quota
All Civil Engineering students with the computer lab account has a dollar-based print quota for printing. Students receive a $5.00 of print quota each month. At five cents per page, this amounts to 100 printed pages. If you print duplex, you are charged only $.03/page; thus with duplex printing you could print as many as 166 pages each month.
On the 1st of each month, the print quota is set back to $5.00 (read below for an exception). For example, if your balance at the end of the month is $2.10, your balance would again be $5.00 at the beginning of next month.
Checking Your Print Balance
When you login to any computer in the computer lab, you will see a small window in the upper right corner of your screen with your current balance (illustrated here).

Clicking on "Print Help" gets you to this page. Click on the "Details…" link in the box and then logging into a web tool using your Login ID to look at your print and transaction history. You can also see the environmental impact of your print jobs.
Pre-Paid Print Cards - What if you run out of print quota and need to print more?
In case users need to print after they run out of their monthly quota, they have an option of purchasing Pre-Paid print cards, sold in $2 increments, from the Civil Engineering front desk. The printing charges remain the same at $.05/page for one-sided printing and $.03/page for duplex (both-side) printing.
How do you use Pre-Paid print cards?
- Purchase a card from the front desk.
- Click on “Details…” in the small window that appears in the upper right screen when you login. Type in your password again. This should display your account status in a web browser.
- Click on the Redeem Card link on the left-hand navigation bar.
- Enter the Card Number as listed in the Card including any dashes (-) and click Redeem Card.
- If the card's number is valid, the credit as listed on the card will be added to your account and this will list in your transaction history.
How does the monthly quota work when Pre-Paid cards are used?
Let us say you run out of your balance and purchsed a $2 Pre-Paid print card to print some more pages. Suppose you used it for some printing and you are left with $.50 at the end of the month. Your new balance would be $5.00 at the beginning of the next month.
Only in cases where the balance is over $5.00 at the end of the month after applying the Pre-Paid print cards, the balance will carried forward to the next month. For example, if you apply a $2 Pre-Paid print card to an existing balance of $4.50 and the balance remains $6.50 at the end of the month, your starting balance would be $6.50 at the beginning of the new month.
Adding a Printer
To check if the printers are added to your account, go to Start->Printers and Faxes. You should see HP2300 and HP4250 in the list.
Otherwise, you can add printers with the following steps:
- Start->Run
- Type in \\ceprint\HP2300 to add the HP LaserJet 2300 printer.
- Again, from the Run command, type \\ceprint\HP4250 to add HP LaserJet 4250 printer.
Duplex Printing
Duplex printing is printing on both sides of the sheet of paper. Only HP LaserJet 2300 is capable of duplex printing. To do duplex printing, select the Print command from the application you are using (File|Print). Choose \\ceprint\HP2300 and click Properties.
