Undergraduate Minor in Construction Management
Undergraduate students may earn a minor in construction management by completing 18 credits of specific courses.
This minor can be a substantial complement to a major in management or architecture in particular, but also to any student who has a career or personal interest in this profession.
Requirements for the minor are:
CE 350 – Engineering Economy OR Mgt 326 – Financial Management – 3 credits
CE 372 – Construction Contracting – 3 credits
Mgt 300 – Operations Management OR Mgt 362 – Leadership Development – 3 credits
Choice of three courses from these five (total of 9
credits):
CE 376 – Cost Estimating – 3 credits
CE 377 – Construction Scheduling
CE 473 – Construction Law – 3 credits (online course)
CE 474 – Principles of Written Construction Documents – 3 credits (online course)
CE 475 – Construction Safety – 3 credits (online course)
CE 477 – Project Controls – 3 credits

UNM offers comprehensive financial aid packages, a large number of scholarships and grants as well as a variety of research and internship opportunities. Our students compete in a national steel bridge competition and a regional construction management contest. A student chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) helps students network with construction professionals around the city and state. |
Research
UNM faculty conduct a wide range of research in construction engineering and management.
Opportunities exist for both graduate and undergraduate students to work closely with faculty members on research projects.
Current research topics include:
• Sustainable design and construction
• Integrating design and construction in a fast-track environment
• Leadership skill development in the construction industry
• Safety programs for small contractors
• Pavement management
